Track Training Progress and Transfer Credits

For Admin, Instructor

Every logged lesson moves a student along their program. Sky Schedule shows where each student stands, and when a student transfers in, you can credit the lessons they already finished elsewhere.

See progress for all students

Open Training. The Overview tab lists each student with their Program, current Lesson, CFI, and Progress. Use the filters to narrow it to one CFI or student.

See one student's progress

Click a student's row to expand it. You'll see:

  • Program progress: a bar with the percentage of syllabus lessons completed, plus the student's flight hours.
  • Training sessions & log: every logged lesson with its date, outcome, step grades, summary, and signatures. Drafts and entries awaiting a signature are marked.
  • The student's past flights, with aircraft, route, flight time, and ground instruction.

The same view is on the student's profile under Training, and students see their own progress in Training on their dashboard.

Export a training record

In the expanded row, click Export PDF to download the student's training log. Use it for a student who's leaving, a records review, or your own files.

Give credit for training at another school

  1. Click the student's row on the Overview tab to expand it.
  2. Click Transfer Credits.
  3. In Apply Transfer Credits, enter the School transferred from and any Notes, such as Training records reviewed.
  4. Set the From and To dates of that training, and enter the Flight hours and Ground hours being credited.
  5. Under Lessons, check each lesson the student already completed. Lessons already in their log show Already in log.
  6. Check the box confirming you reviewed the student's training records from the previous school.
  7. Click Apply transfer credits.

The credited lessons are marked as transferred in the training log, and Program progress updates. Transfer credits don't ask for a student signature.

If you're a Part 141 school, the dialog shows what share of the syllabus you're crediting. The Overview tab also flags students whose transfer credits cover more than half the syllabus, so you can review them.

Bring over history from your previous software

If you're moving your whole school, you may be able to import training history instead of crediting students one by one. See Import Data From Your Previous Software.

Tips

  • Keep the previous school's records with the student's documents. The Notes field is a good place to say where they are.
  • Logging lessons against the right syllabus lesson is what drives the progress bar. Pick the lesson carefully in Log lesson.

Troubleshooting

  • Apply transfer credits is grayed out. Enter the school name, check at least one lesson, and check the confirmation box.
  • Progress looks low after transferring. Only the lessons you check count toward progress. Hours alone don't move the bar.
