Add an Endorsement

For Admin, Instructor

Record the endorsements you give in Sky Schedule so the whole staff can see what a student is signed off for, and when time-limited endorsements run out. Your logbook entry is still the official endorsement. This is your school's record of it.

Add an endorsement

  1. Open Customers (or Instructors) and open the person's profile.
  2. Expand Endorsements and click Add endorsement.
  3. Pick the Endorsement from the list. Endorsements your school requires appear under Required by your school. For anything not listed, choose Other and enter the endorsement name.
  4. Set the Date Given.
  5. Add any Restrictions / Limitations, such as aircraft make and model, wind limits, or airports.
  6. Click Add Endorsement.

The endorsement shows on the profile with the date given.

Endorsements that expire

Some endorsements are only good for a set time. The solo endorsement for each additional 90-day period (14 CFR 61.87) expires 90 days after the date given, and the form tells you so when you pick it. Sky Schedule tracks the expiration for you.

Endorsements your school requires can also have a time limit. See below.

Require an endorsement for an activity type

If a student needs an endorsement before flying a certain kind of reservation, like solo flights or a tailwheel checkout:

  1. Open Settings > Activity Types and expand the type.
  2. Under Requirements, add an endorsement requirement.
  3. Fill in Who is it required for? If it should expire, set Valid for (days), such as 90. Leave it blank for no time limit.

When someone books that type without a current endorsement, the booking form shows Activity requirements incomplete. Staff can override and book anyway, and the gap also shows in the preflight check and at check-out. See Set Up Activity Types and Booking Rules.

View or remove an endorsement

Click an endorsement on the profile to see the date given and, for time-limited ones, when it Expires. To take it off, click Remove endorsement. To correct one, remove it and add it again with the right details.

Tips

  • Nobody can endorse themselves, so you won't see Add endorsement on your own profile.
  • Put make and model in Restrictions / Limitations for aircraft-specific endorsements so the front desk knows which aircraft the student can solo.

Troubleshooting

  • "Date required." Choose the date the endorsement was given.
  • "Endorsement required." Pick an endorsement from the list, or enter the name if you chose Other.
  • A booking still shows a missing endorsement. Check that the endorsement on the profile matches the one the activity type requires and hasn't expired.
