Check Out and Complete a Flight on iPhone
For Admin, Office admin, Instructor, Student, Renter
The iOS app is built for the ramp. You can check out a flight with the Hobbs and Tach out readings, then complete it with the readings in when you're back, without going inside to a computer. Staff can do this for any flight. Customers can do it for their own flights when their school gives them Can Complete Flights.
Check out a flight
- Open the reservation from Schedule or Reservations.
- If the reservation shows a Flight Checkout Form button with a count of finished items, tap it and fill in the form first. It shows a check mark when it's complete.
- Tap Check Out.
- Read anything flagged above the readings: inspections coming due, open squawks, missing documents, or an overdue inspection.
- Tick each item on the Checkout List. Items marked Required must be ticked.
- If your school requires a Checkout selfie for this activity type, tap Add Selfie and take the photo.
- Check the Hobbs out and Tach out readings. Schools that track airtime also see Airtime out.
- Tap Dispatch / Check out.
Checked it out by mistake? Open the reservation and tap Uncheck Out.
Complete the flight
- Open the reservation and tap Complete Flight.
- Under Meters in, enter Hobbs in and Tach in. The app shows the totals under the fields.
- Under Billing hours, check Flight hours. It fills in from the Hobbs times, and changing it updates Hobbs in.
- Enter Flight instruction and Ground instruction hours when the instructor's time is billed. Leave them blank on solo flights.
- Enter Landings if your school asks for them.
- Under Route, enter the departure airport and the next airport, such as KPTK.
- Fill in any Additional fields your school added and tick the Complete Flight Checklist if there is one.
- Add Notes if you need to, then tap Complete flight.
Sky Schedule updates the aircraft's Hobbs and Tach and saves the flight to the customer's history. If your school auto-drafts invoices, a draft is created for the office. Payment happens on the web or from the emailed invoice.
Report a squawk from the ramp
Found a problem during the flight?
- Open the completed reservation and tap Add Squawk. The aircraft is already picked.
- Enter an Issue title and a Detailed description.
- Choose a Category, a Priority, and the Severity: Non-grounding or Grounding.
- Add Discovered at Hobbs if you have it, and attach photos or video.
- Tap Save.
If Maintenance is in your menu, you can also report a squawk any time: open the Squawks tab and tap +. See Log a Squawk.
Tips
- Keep the aircraft's current Hobbs and Tach right, so the out readings fill in correctly on the next flight.
- Instructors can log the lesson right after completing a training flight. See Log a Lesson and Grade Steps.
Troubleshooting
- Dispatch / Check out stays gray. A required checklist item isn't ticked, the checkout selfie is missing, or an overdue inspection is blocking check-out.
- "Complete the checkout form before checking out/in the flight." Tap the form button on the reservation and finish it.
- "Need to change times, hours, or route? Edit this flight on the web app." Customers can't edit it in the app. See Edit a Completed Flight.
- The readings show an error. Hobbs, Tach, and Airtime must be numbers of zero or more, such as 1234.5.
