Collect Student Signatures on Lesson Logs
For Admin, Instructor, Student
Many schools want the student to sign each lesson entry, confirming the training was received as recorded. Sky Schedule can ask the student to countersign every lesson after the instructor signs it.
Turn on student signatures
- Open Settings > Scheduling.
- Turn on Customer signs training logs.
From then on, every lesson an instructor signs waits for the student's signature. Lessons signed before you turned it on don't need one. Drafts and transfer credits never ask for a student signature.
What instructors see
After you click Save & Sign on a lesson, the entry in the student's training log shows Awaiting customer signature until the student signs. Once they do, it shows when they signed. See Log a Lesson and Grade Steps.
How students sign
- Sign in to Sky Schedule. When a lesson is waiting for you, Training in the sidebar shows a mark.
- Open Training. Entries waiting for you say Needs your signature.
- Find the entry and read what the instructor recorded.
- Under Customer · Your signature, draw your signature.
- Click Sign & save.
You'll see Training log signed, and the entry shows when you signed.
Email copies
Turn on Customer training log emails in Settings > Email to send the student a copy of each signed training log. Parent training log emails also sends one to the parent on file. See Choose Which Emails Your School Sends.
Tips
- Ask students to sign at the end of the debrief, before they leave. It takes a few seconds and keeps the log complete.
- Use Export PDF in the student's training log to download their entries for your records.
Troubleshooting
- "Signature required." The student needs to draw a signature in the box before clicking Sign & save.
- A student doesn't see Training in their sidebar. They aren't enrolled in a program yet. See Enroll a Student in a Training Program.
- An old lesson doesn't ask for a signature. It was signed before Customer signs training logs was turned on.
