Ask Arlo About Your School

Arlo is the AI assistant built into Sky Schedule. You ask it questions in plain English, and it answers from your school's live data: the schedule, aircraft, customers, instructors, invoices, and documents. In the sidebar it's labeled Arlo 5.6.

Who can use Arlo

• Admins and office admins.
• Instructors, when the school turns on Can View Arlo 5.6 for them in Settings > Permissions (under Instructors) or on their profile. It's off by default.
• Customers don't have Arlo.

Arlo works on a computer or a wide tablet screen. It doesn't show on phones and isn't in the iOS app.

Ask a question

1. Click Arlo 5.6 near the bottom of the sidebar. You can also press Command+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and click Ask Arlo.
2. Type your question in the Ask anything... box, or click one of the suggestions under it.
3. Press Enter. Arlo shows the steps it's taking while it looks things up, then answers.

To talk instead of type, click the microphone (Dictate message), speak, then click the check mark (Use dictation).

Questions that work well

• What's on the schedule today?
• Any open squawks?
• Which students haven't flown in three weeks?
• Give me an unpaid invoices summary.
• What's the weather at our home airport this afternoon?
• Prep me for Jake's next flight.
• Why can't my customers make a reservation?

Arlo answers with real names, numbers, and dates. It can draw a chart for report questions and show a map of a flight's ADS-B track. When something needs doing, it usually ends with an offer, such as drafting an email or booking a time. See What Arlo Can and Can't Do.

For "why can't someone book" questions, Arlo checks that person's permissions and your booking rules, then tells you exactly which setting to change.

Manage your chats

• New chat starts a fresh conversation.
• View history lists your past chats. Pick one to continue it.
• The star adds a chat to your favorites.
• The More menu has Settings (Arlo's color, and Arlo Watch for admins) and Delete chat.
• Under each answer you can copy it, rate it, or regenerate it. Under your own message you can edit it.

Tips

• Set Time zone and Home airport (ICAO) in Settings > Organization. Arlo uses them for times and weather.
• Use full names when two people share a first name. Arlo asks which one you mean rather than guessing.
• Admins can have Arlo check the school a few times a day on its own. See Turn On Arlo Watch.

Troubleshooting

• There's no Arlo 5.6 in the sidebar. Make the window wider, or use a computer. Instructors also need Can View Arlo 5.6 turned on.
• "I don't have that in my current data." Arlo couldn't find the answer and won't guess. Try naming the person, aircraft, or date.
• "Daily limit reached." You've used today's prompts. See the limits in What Arlo Can and Can't Do.
