Convert a Lead to a Customer
For Admin
When a lead decides to start training or renting, invite them as a customer right from their lead record. Their name and email carry over, they get a sign-up link, and the lead is marked converted.
Steps
- Open CRM > Inbound Leads and click the lead.
- Scroll to Invite as customer and click Send invite.
- In Add Customer, check the Full name and Email.
- Choose their Role (customer category), such as Student.
- If your school uses more than one schedule, pick a Schedule view.
- Click Send Invitation.
You'll see Invitation sent. The customer is added to Customers, gets an email to create their account, and the lead moves to converted in your pipeline.
If the lead has no email
You can still add them. They're added to Customers without an invitation. Add their email to the profile later and use Account > Send sign-up link.
What the new customer does next
They open the email, click Create your account, and set a password. If you've built an onboarding form for their category, they see it right away. See Build an Onboarding Flow.
If Require account approval is on, you approve them in Customers before they can sign in.
Tips
- Pick the right category when you invite. The category decides which onboarding form, permissions, and pricing apply.
- Converted leads stay in the CRM, so you keep their history: emails, notes, and how they found you.
- The lead record's status shows Converted on the pipeline board and Confirmed on some list badges. Both mean the same thing.
Troubleshooting
- The lead didn't change to converted. Only admins can link a lead to a new customer. If an instructor sent the invite, an admin can change the lead's status by hand.
- "Could not add person." Someone with that email may already be in your school. Search Customers.
